YAAD AA RAHA HAI.....TERA PYAAR....

Happened to watch two movies on consecutive days... both good films about love and passion...both beginning from the letter 'P'... and with great songs....one being the 'Phantom of the Opera' and the other Parineeta.
There were some similarities that I felt in some songs- expressed of course in different languages but conveying the same emotions in many ways...and stirred some old and torn heart strings within me...(sigh!). So here's a 'jhalak' on the same... songs from both movies... and the one I like....

Learn To Be Lonely
Child of the wilderness
Born into emptiness
Learn to be lonely
Learn to find your way in darkness
Who will be there for you
Comfort and care for you
Learn to be lonely
Learn to be your one companion
Never dreamed out in the world
There are arms to hold you
You’ve always known your heart was on its own
So laugh in your loneliness
Child of the wilderness
Learn to Be lonely
Learn how to love life that is lived alone
Learn to be lonely
Life can be lived life can be loved alone

Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again
You were once
my one companion . . .
you were all
that mattered . . .
You were once
a friend and father -
then my world was shattered . . .
Wishing you were
somehow here again . . .
wishing you were
somehow near . . .
Sometimes it seemed
if I just dreamed,
somehow you would
be here . . .
Wishing I could
hear your voice again . . .
knowing that I
never would . . .
Dreaming of you
won't help me to do
all that you dreamed
I could . . .
Passing bells
and sculpted angels,
cold and monumental,
seem, for you,
the wrong companions -
you were warm and gentle . . .
Too many years
fighting back tears . . .
Why can't the past
just die . . .?
Wishing you were
somehow here again . . .
knowing we must
say goodbye . . .
Try to forgive . . .
teach me to live . . .
give me the strength
to try . . .
No more memories,
no more silent tears . . .
No more gazing across
the wasted years . . .
Help me saygoodbye.

Soona Man ka Aangan
Soona.. Soona mann ka aangan, dhunde payal ki woh chann chann
sooni..sooni mann ki sargam, dhunde geet tere humdum
mann main shyam ho ya sawera, laga teri hi yaadon ka dera
tune bandhan kyon ye toda, tune kahe ko mu moda
kaho na kaho na kaho na
phool phool bhawara dole, mann main goonji teri yaad
baagh main papiha bole, pihu pihu piyu kaha
kaise kate sooni raatein, kaho na, kaho na
kaise bhoolein bite baatein, kaho na, kaho na
kaise thame phir tera daaman, kaise meheke mann ka ye aangan
kaise bhoole preet teri saajan, kaise baandhen toota ye bandhan
mann main shyam ho ya sawera, laga teri hi yaadon ka dera
tune bandhan kyon ye toda, tune kahe ko mu moda
kaho na kaho na kaho na
phool phool bhawara dole, mann main goonji teri yaad
baagh main papiha bole, pihu pihu piyu kaha (f)
phool phool bhawara dole, mann main goonji teri yaad
baagh main papiha bole, pihu pihu piyu kaha (m)
phool phool bhawara dole, mann main goonji teri yaad
baagh main papiha bole, pihu pihu piyu kaha (duet) kaho na...(f)

Music of the Night
Night-time sharpens,heightens each sensation . . .
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination . . .
Silently the senses abandon their defences . . .
Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour . . .
Grasp it, sense it -tremulous and tender . . .
Turn your face away from the garish light of day,
turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light -
and listen to the music of the night . . .
Close your eyes and surrender to yourdarkest dreams!
Purge your thoughts of the lifeyou knew before!
Close your eyes, let your spiritstart to soar!
And you'll live as you've neverlived before . . .
Softly, deftly, music shall surround you . . .
Feel it, hear it,closing in around you . . .
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind,
in this darkness whichyou know you cannot fight -
the darkness ofthe music of the night . . .
Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world!
Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before!
Let your soul
Take you where you long to be !

Only then can you belong to me . . .
Floating, falling,sweet intoxication!
Touch me, trust me
savour each sensation!

Let the dream begin,
let your darker side give into

the power of the music that I write -
the power of the music of the night . . .

Raat Hamari To
ratiya kari kari ratiya, ratiya andhiyari ratiya
raat humari toh, chand ki saheli hain
kitne dino ke baad, aayi woh akeli hain
chuppi ki birah hain, jhingur ka baje saath
raat humari toh, chand ki saheli hain
kitne dino ke baad, aayi woh akeli hain
samjha ki baati bhi koi bujha de aaj
andhere se jee bhar ke karni hain baatein aaj
andhera rootha hain, andhera laitha hain
gumsum sa kone main baitha hain
raat humari toh, chand ki saheli hain
kitne dino ke baad, aayi woh akeli hain
samjha ki baati bhi koi bujha de aaj
andhere se jee bhar ke karni hain baatein aaj
andhera pagal hain, kitna ghanera hain
chubhta hain, dasta hain
phir bhi woh mera hain
uski hi godi main, sar rakhke sona hain
uski hi baahon main, chupke se rona hain
ankhon se kajal ban, behta andhera aaj
raat humari toh, chand ki saheli hain
kitne dino ke baad, aayi woh akeli hain
samjha ki baati bhi koi bujha de aaj
andhere se jee bhar ke karni hain baatein aaj
andhera rootha hain,
andhera laitha hain
gumsum sa, kone main baitha hain

Think of Me
Think of me think of me fondly,
when we've said goodbye.
Remember me once in a while -
please promise me you'll try.
When you findthat,
once again,
you long to take your heart back
and be free -
if you ever find a moment,
spare a thought for me
